The Abyss fully mapped with encounters for all 666 layers. An RPG supplement for Dungeons and Dragons with 5e and some earlier encounters.
I started working on this in 1982 and later in 1988 I wrote software to map every level and included encounters for the 1st edition of Advanced Dungeons and Dragons. That was a good program, but as the years progressed D&D versions changed and my skills at maps improved. Now I can generate a complete PDF of the Abyss with 5e encounters in 6 minutes. It takes longer to OCR the finished file than it takes to create it.
My intent is for each customer to get differently generated file, so that no two Dungeon Masters will have the same set of maps and encounters. I started with 600dpi images that took 6 hours to create, and following DriveThruRPG's PDF requirements I had to reduce the size to 150dpi. The images are still very readable, and it's comprimize that just needs to be done for 1342 pages. The end result is just under 500mb, and DriveThruRPG's maximum file size is 256mb. I'm just not willing to give them 30% and cut my image quality in half. No one would be happy with that.
The zip file you get includes the CSV file used to generate your personal copy of the Abyss. I'm currently working on an editor software package that you will be able to modify the encounters yourself, and regen or edit map features one layer at a time.
The layer maps include portals to other levels and gates to other planes, that you determine. Your players could stumble upon one of the gates in one of your adventures. It's always nice to be able to tell your players exactly where they wound up when that Rod of Seven Parts flies apart, or some evil wizard gates you or summons you to their abode in the Abyss. There are so many ways to fit this into your campaign, and it's great reference material for campaigns that you create yourself.
